The second edition of the Clinical Atlas of Intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is the first comprehensive educational tool devoted exclusively to intravascular OCT.
This version of the application is reserved to the members of Europa Digital & Publishing and partners only, via an authentification access mode.
Conducted by Prof. Patrick W. Serruys, Dr. Maria Radu, Dr. Lorenz Räber and Dr. Yoshinobu Onuma, the team behind the publication includes several international well-renowned experts and key opinion leaders within the field of intracoronary imaging and pathology.
Developed specifically for the iPad to offer a rapid and interactive guidance for interpretation of OCT images, the Atlas provides high-quality images (>450 images) in agreement with international consensus presented in an interactive and educative manner covering all emerging topics within the field.
To account for some of the drawbacks of OCT and to aid in the rationale for interpretation, many figures have additionally been complemented with either matched histology, or grey-scale and virtual histology-IVUS images.
In this second edition, the chapters from the first edition have been updated according to the latest scientific evidence. In addition, new chapters and contents have been added to support and reflect the use of OCT according to the current guidelines, namely i) the investigation of the mechanism of stent failure in the clinical routine; and ii) the optimisation of stent implantation. More specifically, three chapters focus on the assessment and failure of coronary devices. A specific chapter is dedicated to OCT-guided PCI. In addition, practical tips and tricks of the available OCT-systems are summarised in the last section.
This edition also covers the basics of OCT imaging and, research methodologies using OCT, emerging technologies, 3-D OCT and OCT in non-coronary vessels.
Each chapter has been peer-reviewed by 2-3 independent reviewers.
Amongst the special interactive features, is the option to download single chapters of the application "on demand" , Zoom-in and out functions, the option to bookmark images and chapters, annotations, and scroll-possibilities in selected pullbacks.
The Clinical Atlas of Intravascular OCT a unique educational tool to assist in the recognition and understanding of cardiovascular pathology in the daily clinical practice and research.
